Apitrade Africa is a non governmental, voluntary, non political and non profit making association established under/and subject to exclusive jurisdiction of the laws of Tanzania with the following mission statement and objectives:

Mission Statement
Increasing trade in African bee products by addressing market access constraints and supporting marketing initiatives.

Objectives

  1. Promoting African bee products in the markets
  2. Promoting sufficient supply of quality bee products
  3. Addressing barriers to market access
  4. Ensuring  good practices and conduct among members
  5. Lobbying and advocating to  build a competitive sector/industry in Africa
  6. Facilitating networking among members and other stakeholders

ApiTrade Africa therefore aims at promoting market access for African bee products. It is established in Africa with membership drawn from African countries and beyond. The setting up of this trade network was first initiated by the founders who met in Dublin (Ireland) in August 2005.This was reaffirmed at the workshops which took place at the Ridar Hotel, Kampala (Uganda) 10-13 October 2006 and at the New Safari Hotel Arusha (Tanzania) 21-23 February, 2007.

To date, African member countries include Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, and Ethiopia.  The lone non-African country member is United Kingdom but this list is soon expanding.Â
